Belkasoft Updates Evidence Center 2013 to v. 5.1
Belkasoft updates its range of forensic products to version 5.1, adding features and improving the speed and stability of the products. All editions of Belkasoft Evidence Center received the update, offering investigators a faster, easier and more convenient way to work with digital evidence.
About the Update
In version 5.1, Belkasoft Evidence Center received many usability, performance and stability updates enabling investigators to view found profiles in real-time as they are being discovered and speed up the search by de-selecting groups of artifacts that are unlikely to appear on a given system (e.g. Linux messenger on a hard drive used with Windows).
The newly added Jump Lists support adds yet another type of evidence to the already impressive list of 240+ artifacts. The new feature enables investigators to examine pinned and most frequently used applications, documents, pictures, songs, or websites of Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. Regularly used documents add an extra bit of data to the profile of the computer user under investigation.
The added artifact grouping now allows investigators speeding up search performance by excluding types of artifacts that are unlikely to appear in the disk being examined. This feature allows specifying only certain types of information or excluding everything but Windows-specific types when analyzing Windows disks, or analyzing Mac OS X-only apps when examining a hard drive taken out from a Mac.
In version 5.1, the product received the ability to gradually add new profiles to the list. In previous versions, the product could spend a couple of hours going through the entire drive or image before displaying the full list of profiles is discovers, without giving the examiner much in a way of interaction. In this release, the profiles are added immediately as they are discovered, giving investigators an opportunity to immediately review what has been found so far.
Other additions and enhancements include integration with the latest EnCase 7.05, UTC/Local time cleanup, enhanced Facebook and Dropbox support, Internet Explorer 10 analysis, 3GP and 3G2 video file format support, the ability to export emails into EML format, and many other additions, improvements and enhancements.
